This recipe is my variation of Sean Superfood V3 by glint, with a few major modifications. I took his advice to substitute maltodextrin with brown rice flour, which does make it a tad coarser but more filling in my experience. I also substituted canola oil with an olive/MCT oil blend to avoid the potential issues with high canola consumption. I actually found myself quite satisfied with the taste and texture change, as well. Unfortunately, olive oil has a pretty poor Omega 3:6 ratio, so I added Algal oil: a highly viable, vegan source of DHA and EPA.
My only issue with the rice protein in glint's recipe was the size of the container; I would have to make regular orders of the stuff roughly every week or so. I had tried using Cytosport 100 Whey for awhile--roughly $6/lb at Costco--but it regularly made me feel sick at the amounts I was consuming per day. (Not sensitive to whey? Have at it!) To remedy this, I chose the Protein Optimizer Formula for its solid amino acid profile for the price. If you order 15+ pounds on the True Nutrition website you get a discount as well. I recommend the unsweetened option simply because you can customize the flavor of your soylent with other things for less money and more control over the sweetness (a little stevia goes a long way in this recipe).
MIXING:
You can use either a blender or whisk--just be sure to add water then powder and add a 1/4 of the powder at a time unless you're using a Ninja or something of that quality. You'll need somewhere between 2-4 liters of water depending on your thickness preference. Don't add the oils until after you blend the powder or you'll suffer the clumpsequences.
STORAGE:
I use 1 gallon ziploc bags for each day of food. As long as the bags are fully sealed and free of air they should last for months at a time, should you need that much time in advance to prepare them. For the flours, I just use food-grade buckets with typical lids, but I don't have issues with weevils or humidity so your mileage may vary. Do NOT USE HOME DEPOT'S ORANGE BUCKETS. THE PAINT CHEMICALS COULD LEACH INTO YOUR FLOUR AND YOU WILL BE SAD.
The mixed soylent will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to three days in the fridge.
FUN SUGGESTION: If you're feeling really crazy one day you can replace some/all of the water with chilled coffee and throw some boba in it if you're into that iduno I just work here
