I made PH03N1X's recipe but I want to make adjustments to suit my needs and tastes and also make it less expensive. I want one with less protein, as his had over 100g per day. As well, the Mega Men supplement is stupidly expensive, and almost fulfills all nutrients if you take it every other day.

My ultimate goal is to make a vegan version of this, and to do away with the Mega Men supplement altogether, if only because of the ridiculous amount of packaging it comes with. But for now I wanted to try living on a DIY soylent recipe (2 of 3 meals a day) before I start doing the legwork involved in that.

As of 7/14/14 I removed the sulfur supplementation (MSM) after reading this thread: http://discourse.soylent.me/t/sulfur-in-cysteine-and-methionine/10626 -- Apparently we don't need sulfur in our diets, we need sulfur-containing amino acids, which are present as long as your protein intake is adequate.

NOTES ON PREPARATION:

Take the Mega Men supplement every other day. I don't grind up the pills into the soylent because I suspect it would taste awful.

Get a cheap $10 coffee grinder to dedicate to your DIY. Use it to grind up the vitamin K, the calc/magnesium, and the lecithin. (I also grind up the psyllium.)

An immersion blender is an awesome investment. You can get a decent one for $20. It's MUCH easier to work with than a standing blender, and takes ten seconds to clean up.

I just dump all the dry ingredients into a large tupperware container, then add oil and honey (heat the honey in the microwave to thin it out and make it easier to measure/pour) then add the water. Stick the immersion blender in and churn until the lumps are gone. Stick it in the fridge overnight. It tastes WAY better after sitting overnight.

Whenever you serve yourself from the container, give it a good shake first, because the masa will settle out. Also, swirl/shake it up as you're drinking it so you don't get masa at the bottom when you're done.

LONG TERM GOALS WITH THIS RECIPE:

-Eliminate mega men supplement and replace it with individual supplements that have less packaging and cost less -Find a different emulsifier than soy lecithin -Phase out the whey
