UPDATE: Switched from whole Flaxseeds to flaxseed meal. Saw tremendous improvement in taste and texture.

Main Body:

Hello everyone, this is my first attempt at my own recipe after being dissatisfied with what's currently available on the DIY marketplace. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

This recipe combines what I believe are the best ingredients from:

People Chow 3.0.1 Tortilla Perfection with Olive Oil, Schmoylent, 100% Food Double Protein Organic, and Uber Chow

and eliminates the ones that I thought harmed the enjoyability of the drinks for me.

Notice the calories, the fiber and macro nutrient ratio.

Notice of removal of soy protein concentrate.

Notice the reduced amount of oat flour, and complete removal of masa harina.

No more olive or canola oil floating around sticking to your lips, not mixing with the other flavors. That is a mouth feel I know I won't miss!

The vast majority of this recipe is coming from seeds, grains --whole real foods, not synthesized and extracted chemicals. This is in truth partly for bioavailability, as natural food sources are usually the best, but also just for peace of mind. Wouldn't you just feel better about eating real food than chemical powders?

The supplemental protein source is whey concentrate, the best and least controversial available, period. and it's my favorite flavor, French Vanilla. (Also available in chocolate.)

Carbs are mainly split between brown rice and oats but this drink does not taste like oatmeal the way Schmoylent does and it doesn't give you gas like some oat based mixes do.

The only thing you may not have heard of in the ingredient list is Choline Bitartrate. Yes, it's a synthetic white powder chemical from a lab. However, the only other real source of choline is soy lecithin. For me, as a man, it's not worth the risk of the estrogenic activity that comes along with concentrated soy products. Do some research, choline bitartrate is harmless and it has very good absorption.

[There are trace amounts of soy in the protein powder and mega men sport used as a binding agent but it's so minuscule that it's negligible. It's large amounts of soy concentrate that I set out to avoid. Men, you will not grow boobs if you eat tofu or edamame just because it is made from soy!]

And to top it off, GNC Mega Men Sport and Vitamin K-2 and D3 supplements round out every vitamin and micro-nutrient the body needs.

Low calories give the consumer lots of wiggle room if anyone wanted a higher carb, fat,or protein version.

At $2.02 per meal, I'll be the first to admit it's probably still possible to eat for less if you really go nuts couponing and you cook a lot and waste nothing, but for those of us who mostly get take out and have no idea how to count the calories, this is huge. On average, not including the cost of gas to drive to pick up my lunch during the work week, my average was $9.54 per day. So saving $7.52 a day makes $37.60 a week which is just under 2000 dollars a year. Plus you'll know that you didn't overdo it with calories. You won't get that sluggish "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" feeling in the afternoon from what you used to eat.

I don't recommend using this product to replace every meal everyday. I am certainly not going to do that myself. I enjoy fruit, vegetables and meat too much and it would be too boring to have the same taste and texture all the time but I wanted to make this in such a way that you totally could hypothetically do that and have a healthy balanced nutrient rich diet. I recommend consuming one third of a "daily serving" (approx 592 calories) to replace one meal per day purely to make your life a little more convenient, affordable and healthy.

For now, if you make this drink you must use a blender. These are whole seeds. First, blend flaxseed meal, sesame seeds and hemp seeds for about 30 seconds to 1 minute or in several pulses with just enough water to liquify. Then mix with powdered ingredients and more water. Mixture won't clump the way Schmoylent or People Chow does. Even if it separates after a few hours, a quick shake will mix it right back. A blender bottle will give a good measure for how much water you need.
