This recipe is intended to replace two meals a day. The third meal is intended to permit social eating and for-fun cooking, wheres the first two meals are considered simply a daily nutritional necessity.

Components:

  • Soakables: Chia, oat flour, buckwheat flour, cinnamon, salt, potassium, choline
  • Blendables: Banana, protein powder
  • Oils: Coconut, olive

Measure soakables into a quart-sized Ball jar. Add boiling water to soakables and soak overnight or at least four hours. Stir well or the flour will clump up or adhere to the sides of the jar. This step supposedly may cause the phytase in the buckwheat to break down the phytic acid in the oats, thereby improving digestibility. I am still looking for more information regarding this process. The downside is that it is labor and energy intensive. Boiling water may not be necessary - room temperature should actually be good enough. I will probably be reducing the temperature of the water I add.

Refrigerate (if possible) once the mixture is cool enough. If you let the mixture sit out too long, it will begin to ferment (~2 days with room temperature water). The fermented oats taste very bad (to me).

Add soaked mixture and the remaining ingredients to a blender and incorporate.

Pills are taken as pills each morning.

Notes on prep:

  • Pre-measure all dry ingredients for the upcoming week. Store each day's worth in a cool dark place in quart jars.
  • Make 2 or 3 days' worth of blended mixtures at once to reduce the amount of time spent cleaning the bender.

TODO:

  • Try to pre-measure protein powder and include in the soakables.
