Things I've learned from DIY Soylent:

  • Use a scale.
  • Measure into a separate container on the scale, then transfer to the bowl.
  • Take dry ingredients for a spin in the food processor to mix them well.
  • Food processor also helps smooth out gritty ingredients.
  • Have some liquid in the bottom of the blender before you add powder, to help prevent clumping.

In this recipe:

  • Combine the boiling water and cream of rice first, then mix in the other ingredients. Otherwise, the cream of rice remains in large pieces.
