GIVE TO LUCY

This recipe is what you need if...

You want to gain muscle fast on a wholefood-based eating plan.

The default values are set for the cheapest input of protein, carbs & other lean-muscle gain nutrients, but while still remaining healthy. The zeroed out ingredients are nice but more expensive options that yield more variety & possibly better results, but for an increased cost.

To sub in sweet potato using fresh instead of powder, using 5x as much may translate well.

Misc. Info

I've decided to use a blend of pea & rice protein as the protein powders in this for the reason that they are both medium-speed digesting ones. This means they won't cause an insulin spike, but nor will they keep one full for too long (such as long-digesting protein powders such as casein). Rice & pea have the added benefit that they are the cheapest of all protein powders, and they are vegan & ethical.

Recipe for oil powder

  • 200g oil
  • 100g maltosec
  • 2g salt

Could also try mixing oil with all or some of: protein powder, maltodextrin, Dipotassium phosphate, Disodium Phosphate, Tricalcium phosphate, Mono & Diglycerides, sunflower Lecithin, Tocopherols, & Silicon Dioxide.

Research

Most waxy maize starches, with the exception of Vitargo®, are slow-digesting, low-GI (REF).

Tips

This recipe can be combined in a blender with Überplete powder to yield a nutritionally complete liquid-meal that is also very high in calories.

If haven't got powdered oats, use pre-soaked or pre-cooked oats, quinoa, sweet potato or brown rice instead.

Make on-the-go protein bars with: https://www.youbars.com/

One of the cheapest ways to get more calories-worth of food into your diet is to eat lots of cooked starches, e.g., oats, rice or quinoa.

* To make it cheaper

For example, increasing the pea protein while decreasing the hemp protein can yield the same total protein but with a recipe that is considerably cheaper (though less healthy).

Activate your own almonds at home (see http://mywholefoodromance.com/2012/11/how-to-make-activated-almonds-soak-your-nuts-baby.html).

To increase the energy factor

Trade part of the default oils for XCT oil (ensuring to keep the omega-6:3 ratio the same).

Recipe Notes

Daily fructose for someone of my current activity is, based on Poliquin’s advice, seems to be 10–20g/day.

Information & Explanations on Ingredients

Liquids

1. Water

Ideally, spring, distilled or filtered water would be used. Tap water works fine; however, it also contains many potentially harmful things in solution, such as... (LIST COMING SOON).

2. Sunflower Oil

Included because it is a polyunsaturated oil that is high in omega-6 fatty acids. Including this allows the ratio of omega-6:omega-3 to be controlled by tweaking the quantities.

Sunflower oil has a higher content of vitamin E than any other vegetable oil, including safflower oil. [...] Sunflower oil is available in three varieties. Linoleic sunflower oil is original sunflower oil and has low levels of saturated fat as well as being rich in vitamin E. This variety is 65 percent unsaturated...

(LiveStrong.com)

2a. Safflower Oil

Safflower may be used as an alternative to, or in addition to, sunflower oil as they offer a similar nutritional profile.

"Safflower oil is a concentrated source of omega-6 linoleic acid and provides no omega-3 polyunsaturated fats."

3. Flaxseed Oil

Included because it is a polyunsaturated oil that is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Including this allows the ratio of omega-6:omega-3 to be controlled by tweaking the quantities.

3a. Chia oil

This is a more expensive alternative to flaxseed oil to provide the omega-3 rich fat source. Can be included in order to provide variation if fund allow.

4. MCT Oil

MCT oils are saturated fats found, for example, in coconut oil. They are a great source of energy and can be turned into ketones in a mere 10-12 minutes (citation needed). The inclusion of this in the oil component of the nutriplete allows for a quick energy boost while maintaining ultra-low carbohydrate in the recipe.

Macro Powder Ingredients

5. Hemp Protein powder (ISOLATE OR CONCENTRATE?)

Hemp provides a vegan complete protein source (citation needed) with the bonus that it is also one of the most environmentally friendly crops due to its carbon-sequestering effect (citation needed). Hemp protein is relatively expensive for protein powders, and those requiring a cheaper recipe are advised to use a combination of pea & rice protein.

X. Spirulina

An excellent wholefood, vegan protein source. In terms of sourcing, some analyses of spirulina brands show very high levels of aluminium, so certificates-of-analysis should be consulted. Dr Bob McCauley recommends spirulina from Taiwan or California as being good starting points to look (REF).

X. Spinach

good source of vitamin A

You can expect to get the following nutrients from spinach powder: •Vitamins A, C and K •Protein •High levels of iron •Manganese •Lutein •Lipoic acid •Potassium •Folic Acid •Phosphorus •Beta-carotene •Phytochemicals (REF)

X. Broccoli

Suggested Use: 5g–15g (1–3 tsp) daily (REF).

6. Sesame Seeds (ground)

Milled sesame seeds lend a thickness to the texture as well as providing omega-6 fatty acids and fibre. Ideally, the seeds would be milled at the time of the powder preparation.

7. Flaxseeds (ground)

Milled flaxseeds are a common egg-replacer in vegan cuisine and add, therefore, a thickness to the texture. In addition, they are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and fibre. Ideally, the seeds would be milled at the time of the powder preparation.

8. Coconut Flour (fine-milled) ((fibre, protein, fat))

Provides fibre, fat & protein. (MORE INFO NEEDED) Try making it blender from dessicated coconut (or whatever's cheapest).

X. Nettle

Source of vitamins A, B6, and Ca, Fe & Mg. High in protein, calcium, Mg, K, B-vitamins, vitamins C & K(1).

Take 2 capsules of 600 mg 2-3 times daily of the herb (REF)

X. Barleygrass

Better than wheatgrass at controlling blood-sugar levels (REF).

Stimulates friendly gut-bacteria.

aids digestion by improving the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Powerful anti-oxidant. Identified as powerful anti-cancer agent. Balances pH levels in body. Helps prevent cravings for various addictions (incl. sugary sweets). (REF)

Use 5 grams in a juice, smoothie or dressing up to twice a day. Natural source of vitamins, minerals & chlorophyll (REF).

X. Mesquite Meal

dried seed pods of the mesquite tree

a high-protein, highly nutritious food, rich in iron, lysine, manganese, potassium, and zinc. Studies have shown that diets rich in potassium, an essential mineral and electrolyte, can help to prevent stroke and high blood pressure, and increase bone mineral density. Mesquite flour is also low on the glycemic index, which can help to keep blood sugars controlled, and is gluten free. In addition, it is a good source of soluble fiber, tannins, inulin, and mucilaginous polysaccharide gums that can help maintain blood sugar control. ... Because it is naturally sweet, using mesquite flour in recipes may allow you to lower the amount of sugar added to recipes.

This recipe recommends 1tsp in a smoothie.

X. Almond Flour (activated, fine-milled) {protein, fibre, sulfur, vit-E}

Rich in vitamin E, which encourages healthy skin. High in phosphorus, which is important for healthy bones & teeth, which are partly composed of amorphous forms of calcium phosphate (CITATION NEEDED). Almonds are a good source of fat, especially monounsaturated, which has been linked to heart health (CITATION NEEDED). This recipe uses the suggestion here that one should consume 1 almond per day for every 1lb of their ideal body weight (the average almond weighs 1.2g). Almonds control blood-sugar/insulin spikes after meals, and are, therefore, great for keto diets (CITATION NEEDED). Almonds are oft quoted as a good brain food due to their containing riboflavin & L-carnitine.

X. Lúcuma (sweetness, creaminess, vitamins, minerals, fibre, anti-oxidants) CHECK THESE

This South American fruit is a way popular amongst diabetics for adding sweetness to a recipe. It has been called a "superfood" due to its high content of amino acids, vitamins & minerals WHICH ONES? Charlot = 1 heaped tsp

X. Ashwaganda {chocolate flavours}

David Wolfe: Male virility tonic herb; works together w/ tulsi; activity ranges from supporting healthy male reproductive function, to supporting healthy thyroid. Has a taste akin to coffee. Taking 1 whole Tbsp per day is a great way to remineralise the body. (REF)

100mg/day has been recommended (I think on the eBay listing).

X. Maca (aka Peruvian Ginseng or Lepedium Meyenii) (hormone-balancing, hypothalamus-activation)

A root vegetable native to the Peruvian & Bolivian Andes mountains. It's extremely nutrient dense (WHICH NUTRIENTS) & can result in energy boosts when consumed. It comes in "white", "red" & "black" varieties. The red variety has been linked to prostate health. MORE INFO NEEDED {activates hypothalamus, turns all hormone precursors on (not sure if true for gel. form)}

it’s pretty much impossible to take too much Maca. … The younger and healthier you are the more you can start with. … even though Gelatinized Maca is more concentrated, we recommend the same amount to make up for the fact that some nutrients have been destroyed by heating it

Char = 1 tsp The Maca Team = 3–9g/day for 75kg person

X. Mucuna

A bean from Africa & Asia that is effective at low doses as a regulator of certain hormones & neurotransmitters. It's the richest known natural source of L-Dopa, the pre-cursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine, which promotes sexual function, body-fat loss & muscle gains. It is used as a mood-enhancer due to it's containing serotonin & a pre-cursor to dopamine. It has beneficial effects for the kidneys & adrenals, and it turns on neurotransmitters activating genius & sustained mental-focus (CITATIONS NEEDED). Wolfe: nutrient profile among best in world of any herb; rich in tryptomines (e.g. tryptophan), rich in beta-carbolenes (feel-good substance), rich in L-DOPA, can transform kidney & adrenal power (include in adrenal rejuvenation program); start w/ 1tsp, gradually working up to 1Tbsp. Strong affinity for chocolate.

Supplement-wise, 5g of Mucuna Prurients dried powder has been used with efficacy in some human studies on Parkinson's Disease and Fertility. This dose or doses upwards of it should be a good starting point.

Mucuna recommendations have included: 5g/day or 4tsp/day

Poliquin:

The best supplements for increasing testosterone [includes] mucuna pruriens […] Mucuna supports levels of lutenizing hormone which is a signaling hormone that the brain uses to communicate with the testes to intiate more testosterone production. Mucuna also increases the neurotransmitter dopamine which in turn supports mood, energy, and growth hormone production.

A detailed guide on how to choose chlorella is available here.

Maintenance Dosage: 3-5 grams/day

X. Turmeric

Curcumin from turmeric root as a potent anti inflammatory agent.

X. MSM

Take with vitamin C, beginning MSM dose at 1g/day and gradually increase over time to 2–4 Tbsp/day. It is a completely non-toxic substance (though it may detoxify you too quickly (REF).

Typically a dose of 1000mg is used for general health purposes, however this may be increased depending on the individual requirements.

MSM is an essential nutrient for the body that helps skin, hair, and nails healthy.

There are cheaper sources than the one linked—Natures Root—but this brand was chosen due to a reviewer who said,

After breaking a total of 42 bones in one accident i have used MSM everyday since waking from a coma. I swapped to natures root a few months ago and it really does seem more potent than other brands.

Micro Powder Ingredients

X. Sunflower Lecithin (emulsifier)

A nutritious ingredient that is included in this recipe to help emulsify the high oil content. Contains choline, which is important for brain development. Helps to maintain nervous system and to aid muscle conditioning. It's an anti-aging component (CITATIONs NEEDED).

For the stabilization of emulsions, lecithin is added at a weight ratio of 0.3% to 1.0%, depending on how stabilized you want the emulsion to be. To help strengthen the emulsion, xanthan gum can also be added at a 0.1% to 0.4% ratio, which has the often desired effect of slightly thickening it and increasing the mouthfeel. [...] For an emulsion lecithin will usually be added as 0.5% to 1% of the liquid by weight. To help strengthen the emulsion you can also add some xanthan gum at a 0.1% to 0.4% ratio, which has the sometimes desired benefit of slightly thickening it.

X. Stevia Leaf Powder

1 tsp = 2.50g

X. Oat Fibre

9. Acacia Gum (fibre)

Provides an effective source of SOLUBLE/INSOLUBLE fibre that is beneficial to gut bacteria and is useful in that it allows a great deal of control over the level of fibre in the recipe.

10. Xanthan Gum (thickener, fibre)

An ingredient commonly used in gluten-free baking that is used in this recipe as a thickener. Adding thickness makes for a creamier drink without requiring dairy products, and this thickness serves to mask the gritty texture from the coconut flour & chia seeds. Costs slightly more than guar gum but slightly smaller quantities are required.
