Oats however, are a complete protein, except for being a little low in lysine, which peas just so happen to be high in =) http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/cereal-grains-and-pasta/5708/2 http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2517/2

hey there! I somehow goofed on the niacin content of the gnc max: check the ingredient in my modified recipe, it will make that go green for you.

you do know you don't need the msm powder as the sulfur is in the whey protein.

I've been taking this for a little while now and feel much better from it (only 1 portion a day, so only 1/3rd of it as I wanted to start slow and have encountered a few negative side effects). I've started looking at Choline Bitartrate which is one…

Hey there. I've considered crushing up the flax seeds, but yeah, everything goes into the blender minus the pills. You can get some decent models for 5,000yen - mine's pretty cheap.

I shake mine up without a blender. I bought this carafe http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Carafe-Leak-Proof-2-quart-1878491/dp/B003EYUZLI/ from the Container Store. Washing is super easy, and so is mixing up a day of meals. I just add the oil first, then…

I'm not sure about the max dose of Potassium Citrate, but it is the only source of potassium for the recipe. The USDA recommended amount is 3.5g of potassium so you need 6g of potassium citrate to get enough.

My understanding, and quick google check, is that Whey is considered a complete protein meaning it has all of the essential amino acids. I did follow your link (thanks for posting) and was very surprised at how low the worst ones were, but in general…

Yes, the amazon prices seemed to climb for a lot of ingredients after this recipe got popular. In this case just go to your local walmart, HEB, etc. You can still find 4 lb bags between 2 and 3 dollars.

Hrm, this is frustrating. After having looked through a *lot* of DIY soylent recipes, this one seems to be the best fit for me. However, I live in the US, and I'd love to be able to source these ingredients locally rather than paying a lot for international…

Bananas and nuts can supplement that as well. These make excellent pancakes / crepes and when slightly burned taste like churros.

I just bought it from here: http://www.iherb.com/now-foods-potassium-gluconate-100-pure-powder-1-lb-454-g/13939 They have international shipping for 4$ so it's pretty decent

Be very careful using protein powders, they are notorious for over claiming the protein content, which which means you will be under dosing on protein which is super important especially if you are training. Thanks for the reply. I am seriously thinking of giving this a try. Do most people use a protein shake shaker to mix it right before drinking it? Do you get hungry? So many questions. I think I am just going to have to find out for my self.

potassium -39.098 (g/mol) chlorine is -35.453 (g/mol) so molar mass of potassium chloride is 74.551 (g/mol) then divide the molar mass of the element by molar mass of the molecule and that will give you the ratio k and cl in a gram k = .52444 cl =…

Would this recipe be sufficient for a 5'9, 170 lb guy, ~11.5% body fat, who regularly (3x a week) does calisthenics exercise? Each workout day ends up being around 3 hours, including rests. My goal is to actually stay slim and muscular, in the 8-11%…

How did it go for you? I've found that the texture is best when I blend it all right before I drink it. I'm not too sure about coconut oil with all that saturated fat, but if it suits you then go for it.
DoctorDee - Sep 04, 2014 6:00am
Oh yeah, I thought you has some special one-off purpose in mind, like an expedition. If you want to do that regularly, you'd be better just getting some small plastic battles to keep your oil in.

Your recipe looks great. I've seen a few of these (very few) and I dislike the use of powders and flours. Yours is real food, which makes more sense to me. I have a few questions. Did you mean 1 gram of banana or one whole banana? One gram did not seem…

Do you just put everything (minus the pills I guess) into a blender? I'm wondering if a blender can do a good job at fragmenting flax seeds, but don't have one at hand to try.

BroLent - Sep 03, 2014 11:40am
Thank you! Have you tried it? I don't know much about nutritional values etc so I'd have to research it first. Assuming it was still under 2000 calories, I'd be interested. On second thought it looks too expensive to be a viable option
DoctorDee - Sep 03, 2014 11:35am
Theoretically you could use Tapioca Maltodextrin to powder the oil. It's a technique used in molecular gastronomy. But you'd need to take the nutritional value of the Malto into account, and you'd end up with a higher calorie version of LiqCake.
BroLent - Sep 03, 2014 11:23am
Does anyone know of a replacement ingredient for the oil which can be powdered, so we can prepackage a few days meals in their own bottles without having to add oil with the water?

So far the Paradise Herbs multivitamin is the cheapest, easiest option that is complete. You could also look at the Celebrate Bariatric Multivitamin, but you have to use multiple pills per day, and it's a bit more expensive.
axcho - Sep 02, 2014 10:23pm
Glad you like it! :)
axcho - Sep 02, 2014 10:23pm
That is true. I'm using a very small amount of cinnamon per day, however, such that coumarin side effects are unlikely to be a factor.
axcho - Sep 02, 2014 10:22pm
Yes, Marion Chow is gluten-free. There's just no "gluten-free" tag option on the DIY Soylent site.
