This is a work in progress for those who suffer from GERD, GERD-causing conditions (such as a hiatal hernia), esophageal dysmotilities, and bile reflux. Supplements to approrpiately complete the micronutrient profile have yet to be identified.

This "medical" recipe:

  • Follows a different approach than high fat / low carb recipes, as it's designed to help those with certain conditions (no medical claims being made).
  • Should be avoided by people who had bariatric surgery, as their stomachs cannot tolerate the osmolarity of higher-carb foods mixed with liquids.
  • Is not intended to replace all meals, but may be considered a complete source of nutrition (when the formula is completed).
  • Does not promote abstinence from animal-based foods, yet uses only plant-based ingredients (except fish oil supplement) to promote health awareness.
  • Should be avoided by those with a history of hormone-sensitive cancers, as soy protein may possibly result in even slight hormonal changes.

The author does not believe there is currently enough quality evidence for men to avoid soy protein in moderation.

Theory behind the recipe:

1) Eating a minimum recommended amount of fat to maximize stomach transit time.

2) Eating a minimum recommended amount of fat to minimize bile excretion (for those with bile reflux).

3) Liquid food is very easy to swallow (for those with achalasia/esophageal dysmotilities).

4) Consuming very small meals throughout the day avoids completely filling the stomach (for those with GERD).

5) Consuming very small meals helps prevent insulin spikes and keep blood sugar balanced, even though the ingredients themselves have a low glycemic index.

6) This recipe is healthier and cheaper than commercial formulations (Glucerna, etc).

7) This recipe seeks to incorporate non-essential nutrients considered beneficial to human health, to promote good quality of life.
