Design intent

It's primary purpose is convenience, intended to cut down on time spent preparing, shopping for, and worrying about food.

Priorities, in order:

  1. Easy to prepare, easy to eat.
  2. Long storage times.
  3. Cheap.
  4. Easy to buy.
  5. Not poison.
  6. Tasty.
  7. Sourced from New Zealand, to reduce shipping.
  8. Less environmental impact. Less cow, more plant.

It is not intended for be an optimised nutritional super food. Rather, a healthier, more sustaining alternative to fast food, instant noodles or an endless plate of toast.

The vitamin tablets make up the majority of the micro-nutrients, and can probably be excluded if you eat normal food with vegetables, regularly.

Shopping

Excluding the protein powder, all ingredients should be available at local New Zealand stores. Masa Hirana and coconut flour can be found at Bin Inn and other speciality shops.

Preperation

First blend or grind the peanuts until it has reached suitable granularity. Be sure to use a blender suitable for dry ingredients, or the task will quickly become very obnoxious. Mix in the remaining ingredients, excluding the vitamin tablets.

Store in an airtight container, in the fridge if possible. The main bottleneck in regards to expiry is the ground linseed/flaxseed, which will go bad first, in ~2 weeks unrefrigerated, and ~2 months refrigerated. That being said, I've kept the powder around for longer than that, and have not noticed any difference in taste. Non-ground linseed/flaxseed will remain fine for months.

Results

Compared to Aussilent, a typical soylent clone, the result is more flavorful, and has a more grainy, interesting mouth-feel. Overall, very satisfying.
