When you're short on time, and PADI Open Water Referral course may be just the answer you looking for. In this course, you will complete all the knowledge development and confined water training at home, before flying out and starting your red sea diving holiday. This means that the confined water dives are out of the way, leaving only the four open water dives to take during your holiday and gain your PADI certification.

The PADI Open Water Referral course lasts two days and there is a minimum age limit of 10 years. A good diving centre will include the equipment rental in your course fee. You will need to be able to swim at least 200 m, or 300 m with a snorkel and flippers and also be able to tread water to 10 minutes. Bearing in mind that the average swimming pool is approximately 25 m long, this equates to around eight lengths (without stops).

Some medical conditions (particularly those of the sinuses, eyes, chest, heart, ears and claustrophobia) would compromise your safety underwater PADI reactivate answers. Your dive centre will ask you to complete a health questionnaire prior to diving to ensure that you are fit to dive. If you do suffer from an existing medical condition, this need not be an automatic bar. If you have any concerns it would be a good idea to visit your local GP before flying out. Your dive centre may need to ask you for a doctor's letter confirming your fitness to dive if you do suffer from an existing medical condition. Of course, this can be arranged in the resort, but a consultation with a doctor in location will incur a charge, and you might just wish to deal with it beforehand to avoid any inconvenience or disruption to your scuba diving holiday.

You will need to to ensure that your travel insurance covers scuba diving if you wish to take the PADI Open Water Referral course. Under the terms of your travel insurance. Scuba is excluded under some policies, though Columbus cover scuba diving up to a depth of 30 m as standard.
