The GOMAD diet is simple - replace all your coke, soda, sweets, et al., with a Gallon Of Milk A Day. It's intended for professional weightlifters only. I thought it might be interesting to adapt that fad to Soylent, but $5 is more than I want to spend on food each day.
This recipe has four key ingredients of bulk: the milk (of course), the chocolate flavoring, the multivite, and the protein powder. The MSM, the Optifiber, and the potassium chloride are all in there to cover three key flaws (sulphur, fiber, chloride respectively). Note that regular sodium chloride is not an option because that would push the sodium intake above acceptable levels.
The original recipe used 40g of Ovaltine instead of Hershey's syrup. This also caused the mineral count to skyrocket.
Concerns
Gee, that's a lot of nutrients over the max mark. The calcium is unavoidable if we stick to the GOMAD conceit, and the vitamin A is nearly so, as well.
Hmm. Maybe, "Half-Gallon-Of-Milk-A-Day"?
Side Note
A lot of the "extras" can be taken out by having a half-cup of brussel sprouts every day. Or splurging at the end of the week with a giant bowl of slow-simmered brussel sprouts...
