This is the first installment of a project I'd like to call "DF Free." The DF stands for "dairy and flour," which I cannot stomach that well, so I'm making a recipe that people with sensitive stomachs can handle.
The goals:
- Create a formula with at least 2500kcal for people that are active and/or looking to gain weight
- Leave out dairy and grain flours as well as other things that upset my stomach
- Make it as cost effective as possible, with a goal of $8.50 per day
- Keep startup costs below $300
- Make it delicious and offer ways of changing the flavor without compromising integrity of the recipe
So in avoiding dairy and flours, I opted for plant-based proteins and pure dextrose instead. If/when I actually taste this, if I notice the taste being off I will adjust the sources.
Version 1.0.0 (13 April 2016) - "These are not the ingredients you're looking for..."
Chocolate-Peanut Flavor!!
My first recipe was a bit of a failure due to holes in the micronutrient profile. The startup cost was also pretty high.
The omega fat content is not where I'd like it to be, a different omega supplement may tip the scale over $10, which is well over our $8.50 goal.
A lot of these numbers are still up in the air due to the flavor. This hasn't yet been made so I don't know if I will need more or less of the peanut or cacao powder.
Lots of calories... Cool thing about this is that you can scale down the macronutrients by half for a nice 1500kcal diet! That'll be another installation in the future, don't worry.
