I want to increase the carbs a fair bit, at least 120 a day, how would I do this? How much whey protein can I replace with oats? Or is it even possible to replace the Whey Protein with another, higher carb, ingredient?
G3ck0 - Aug 18, 2014 10:26am
How low can you go with the protein? I want a lot more carbs, is it possible to do it with oats?

I've updated the recipe again. Nutrient levels checked against UK RDA. Sources included in Nutrient Profile. Tastes just as good. http://diy.soylent.me/recipes/uk-rda-simple-soylent-mark-iii

Three, potentially; although I tend to eat with my family at breakfast and our evening meal so soylent isn't required at those times. I don't adjust the recipe on this days, for ease of use if nothing else. I tend to be quit active, so be aware that the…

Is anyone concerned that the Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio is something like 8.5:1 in this recipe, mostly due to the fact it encorporates glorified vegetable oil? Is there an oil mixture that can bring that ratio down?
axcho - Aug 18, 2014 2:40am
You can buy it at http://custombodyfuel.com/product/schmoylent/ - same price as Soylent. ;)
strikedean - Aug 18, 2014 2:26am
Wow, really glad to see your mix progressing! I'm gonna keep a close eye on your notes, before I purchase anything myself. Your oatmeal issue is one I've known well from making smoothies. I use a coffee grinder to get very fine oats, maybe that's an option…

Exactly, you need lots of masa harina for daily use. There is "days / item" column in the ingrdients table. Look carefully. You can copy recipe to yourself and fix prices.

replaced Zoye Soybean Oil with Walmart's Great Value Vegetable Oil and locally sourced the Maseca from Walmart as well to avoid the stupid shipping costs on the flour. The recipe consumes about two bags of the flour a week and Amazon's 1.99 doesn't account…

I'm currently using Maltodextrin to up the calories but I'm going to switch to Palatinose. Both powders are types of sugars but Palatinose has a much lower glycemic index so carries a much lower risk of Diabetes.
bradyso - Aug 17, 2014 5:22am
I'm sorry I'm new here so I've got some noob questions about this recipe... Because the masa harina bag only contains 2000-grams and the recipe calls for 345-grams daily, this recipe will only last roughly 5.8 days? So you'd have to buy 10 bags of this…

Hi! I've decided to start consuming a DIY Soylent. At the moment I've been oscillating between choosing this recipe and the People Chow one. I was wondering if you are still happy with this recipe and why you chose to make your own over the People's Chow?…

I like your idea of whole food recipes: http://discourse.soylent.me/t/vitamin-a-help/16184/6 - Check ingredient data. They are often wrong, or missing some nutrients ("Not tracked by USDA"). - Some supplements that are going to be shared between recipes:…

Deswegen…

sf_jeff - Aug 16, 2014 4:41am
I am curious about this blend, not because of the graininess, but because I think oat is probably healthier on balance.

How could I buy some Schmoylent from you? How much would it cost and how much would it get? D:

You could use whole flaxseed or ground flaxseed, that keeps alot longer. Could you make Kefir? I gather it's a cottage industry kind of thing.

Extremely impressive. $1/day for excellent nutrition from whole foods easily obtained in a grocery store, with fairly minimal preparation required. I am working on simple whole food recipes and this is along the lines of what I hope to create.
mclaypool - Aug 12, 2014 8:59am
You could try oat flour. I think it's pretty much the same thing, but ground more finely (which would be all to the good!). Check the nutrition info to be sure.
mclaypool - Aug 12, 2014 8:56am
I'll second that. I'm drinking the chocolate Liquid Cake I mixed up last night, and it's kind of like drinking chocolate pudding. There is a faint bitter aftertaste, but dark chocolate is kinda bitter so I'm telling myself it's a feature, not a bug *grin*…

Astiolo - Aug 12, 2014 5:51am
I don't see a reason not to change it. All I have done is to try my best at meeting the daily requirements of that profile with a low number of ingredients that I can get easily.
Astiolo - Aug 12, 2014 5:48am
Reducing the starch is probably what I would look at doing first, the other thing would be to reduce or replace the peanut oil with a lower calorie source of omega-3 and omega-6
Astiolo - Aug 12, 2014 5:42am
I just picked that profile as it seemed to be a common one and I would like to keep the calories fairly low for weight loss. I believe you can just eat more each day if it's not enough for you.
Astiolo - Aug 12, 2014 5:41am
Sorry I've neglected this. I didn't like the taste and couldn't keep it up for a long time. I've been meaning to experiment until I get it to something I enjoy but just haven't got around to it. I'll try and do it soon and post results.

I fixed problems with salt and omega-3. - Chloride was missing in milk ingredient, and potatoes were "with salt" (non-iodised). - Added flaxseed oil. It's cheap but i've read that it won't store well for months, and it doesn't convert well to DHA and…
