I've been doing this for about 5 or 6 weeks now. I usually mix several days worth at a time, putting each day into a separate ziplock bag. Then I take the bag with me to work, and I bring the bag home. I keep a tiny blender at home and at work. I put…

i had to change mine as well. bodybuilding people say 1gr per lb body weight. zone people say 1gr per lb lean body mass. I calculated mine using the zone profile in the calculator and it is still about 50 grams low. i would make it to spec and ad protein…

maybe put in blender or food processor. you can probably make it like a powder if you do it long enough. or eat something even grittier then go back and realize its not as bad as you thought :D:D

Soy protein isolate has iron. I don't think it's too dangerously high, but when included it puts the iron level above the max level for the diet profile

I think it's an update to the site. You can select a "country" when you set up a recipe, my guess is that for EU countries they simply changed the currency.
benssson - Jul 11, 2014 11:25pm
I guess when you consider its 500 pills its good value but I think 500 pills = 500 days servings = 1 Year and 4 months worth of pills its just too much bulk investment for me. I've plugged in the numbers for boots cheap 30 tablet multivitamins http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Multivitamins-30-Tablets-_1141590/…

Calcium and Magnesium aren't vitamins. No Calcium/Magnesium in this recipe will give you muscle cramps after a week, but will go away as soon as you start adding it.

I know how to write or get €, but how do you do it when editing ingredient? Because there where you have price...its only one input box and outside it is $ sign which you cannot change.
Voigt - Jul 11, 2014 8:12pm
On a German Keyboard you can either press Ctrl+Alt+E or Alt Gr + E (which is technically the same). But I don't know how you do it on an another key layout. At least you can always copy the € symbol, and just always insert it with Ctrl+V.

Hey Michael, Firstly - you can mix the soylent without the calcium/magnesium and everything will be fine (you just temporarily won't get those vitamins, but those are easy to get in pill form to bridge the gap). I ran into the exact same problem as…

Anyone know a different place to buy the calcium/magnesium from? I ordered it on Amazon about 2 weeks ago, and just today I got an email from the seller that they won't be shipping it. I've been without soylent for 2 weeks :(.
ElBono - Jul 11, 2014 1:05pm
Cheers for the quick reply CultofMonkey. You know if anyone's tried a recipe increasing the oat flour? Just worried about thickening it up, might try maltodextrin (if I can get a lower GI type).
cultofmonkey - Jul 11, 2014 12:17pm
I used to just mix it, but now I've graduated to using a hand blender. Either works fine as long as you mix the powder & water first, then mix in the oil. I use 500ml water

Haloha, Quick question for you - how do you guys prepare your DIY soylent? Do you whack it all into a blender or just mix it up and throw it into a protein shake bottle? Also - how much water do you use? I was looking to up the carb ratios (since I…

The mesa serving size is 30g and it says there is 1g of fat in that serving size. So take 345 and divide by 30. The mesa should provide 11.5g of fat. (Data Source: Mesa label shown by amazon.) The "calories from fat" portion tells you how many of the…

There's no limit to how much or how little water you need to mix it with. Water has zero impact on any of the nutritional value. Try adding more water so it's not as thick (and a blender helps to make it smoother). There are even people who try baking…

So I finally tried this today and it was okay, but too gooey. I really prefer the original recipe (Ph03n1x's one). I'm not sure if it's the flax or the oats or both that's giving it that consistency. So I'm going to do a few experiments. It also tasted…

Getting potassium from Morton's salt substitute sounds like a great idea, but note that http://www.cookingfor20.com/2013/06/18/hacker-school-soylent-recipe/ asserts that potassium chloride is "inferior potassium" compared with potassium gluconate or potassium…

I do get a little nauseous if I drink it too quickly - try dividing a day into six meals instead. I've found flavouring to be quite difficult. If you plan to be using this recipe for a while, you could buy a bag of vanilla whey & mix 50/50 with the…

Does 345g of masa sound like a bit much to anyone else? I have been doing this for about two weeks now replacing 2.5/3 of my meals with it. My observations are as follows: 1) Do NOT drink a whole days worth at once. I have done this twice now and have…
endtropy - Jul 09, 2014 4:03pm
I have found this recipe does not seem to "set" nearly as much as standard people chow. Probably a combination of reduced Masa and increased protein. Instead, after a morning chill I still have a rather thick mixture but one that still flows freely.

I upped the choline bitartrate just a bit to get enough choline (even at only 2/3 consumption). I also increased the calcium to 2 pills per batch, rather than only one. Consuming only 2/3 batch per day, I then get enough calcium :)
mclaypool - Jul 09, 2014 7:26am
I don't like the graininess of the flax seed in my original recipe, so I'm upping the psyllium husk to replace it. I'm worried that it'll make the drink slimy... Also worried about the effect on my output :p

Iron is something you don't want to be ingesting 300%+ everyday. The body has no way of removing excess iron from the blood and these levels of intake will result in permanent organ damage.

I dunno, good question. I know that Quid likes to avoid seed oils due to the oxidative stress but I'm not sure if that applies to the lecithin as well.
