Man of the Earth Soylent V 2.3.1 -

UPDATE- Turns out, for my fellow Americans, that the soya protein supplier apparently is in the UK so shipping is pretty expensive. Still, however, I found it to be the best option. Price FOR THAT ONE COMPONENT now includes shipping, whereas the rest do not. Also, lecithin is temporarily taken out for corner/cost-cutting.

UPDATE- Finally found a good alternative to that whey protein. Soya protein offers more protein per gram than whey did, and costs about the same. Ipso facto, I was able to cut the cost per diem by about 20 cents. In addition to being significantly cheaper, this protein is actually vegan.

Earthy, elegant, economical, ethical.

I wanted to make a soylent that was based around some of the best wholesome, pronouncable foods out there. Foods like cereal grains, honey, and molasses. The major source of protein is that Pure Whey Protein. Lecithin as an emulsifier, the multivitamin to fill some minor gaps, and a pinch of salt for iodine, sodium, and cholride. The oil helps get the fat content up, mostly. If you want less fat, I would start there. The molasses is mostly redundant as well, but I just really like molasses. I was hoping that the multi-grain flour could combine the individual benefits of each and average the drawbacks. I was hoping to do that with the protein and have whey and soy and pea and yada yada yada but that got to be a little crazy.

Personally, I'm trying to gain a little weight and muscle, but if you think you need less carbs, take out some of the flour. There's a lot. This might still need some fine adjustments, but I can't deny that it's probably a lot healther than my current hardly regulated diet.

The taste I'm going for is earthy, a little sweet, and vaguely nutty. Haven't ordered it yet, but will report when I do. The molasses and loads of honey will also make it pretty thick.

The low price is in part due to careful selection of ingredients, but mainly due to the fact that nearly everything on the list is in bulk. For example, I think it would be 5 gallons of molasses. However, I priced out the basic costs to get started on it, with the minimum quantity/size for about everything, and it hovered a little above $80.

Still need to double check that all ingredients are in fact vegan. Or at least vegetarian.

Ideally, I'd like to get this to be my only food source, and I'd like to have it for < $6 a day.

Advice is always welcome.
