Your body may still be kicking and screaming about your diet change if this is your first time trying it. Took me about a week when I tried DIY for the first time before my cravings got under control. Now I can switch back and forth with minimal problems.…

Thanks for your insight! Did the orange speckles you see also float to the top of Soylent?

I have an urge to start my own nutrition web site. Maybe I could be the "food dude." Just like someone else with a similar self-bestowed title, my qualifications include a Computer Science degree.

Could be caused by almost anything. Did it come back since you iced your neck? Maybe it was unrelated muscle pain. Make sure you put the extra sodium in your Soylent and drink plenty of water in addition to what is in the Soylent.

Despite observation 1 in your post, I believe it is the Masa. When I was consuming People Chow I noticed the same thing. I would have orange rings in the pitcher and orange speckles in the bottle I take to work with my Soylent. I thought maybe it was…

I think it is inherently gritty and chalky. Some people are more sensitive to the texture and taste than others. It does not bother me at all. In fact I actually kind of like it. Other people hate it. It also helps to let it sit overnight in the fridge.…

I use this: crude food 1.0 I don't get hungry nearly as fast as on Soylent. One comparable sized glass will keep me going for 5 or 6 hours compared to Soylent and I'm hungry in 2 hours. I think it is the lack of any maltodextrin and more fat.

This is what I am seeing. The text at the top is way too close in contrast. Also, the width or the writing is VERY narrow. I would like it to fill a much larger percentage of the screen. I do like the minimalist aesthetic though.
asympt - Aug 19, 2014 7:41pm
Huh. That's actually true by TSA regulations. The frozen material can't be at all slushy or mushy, but you're allowed up to five pounds of "properly vented" dry ice to keep it that way. This is not what I'd consider convenient though.
tyroney - Aug 19, 2014 7:16pm
I ramped up slowly to at most 1 meal per day. I found I had to supplement with fiber (5-10g of fiber (psyllium husk) per "meal") to keep things passable. (before adding fiber, the consistency was akin to that of peanut butter and wasn't going anywhere)…

There's a helpful discussion from the vegan perspective here. It concludes that limiting omega-6 FAs is important in order to prevent saturation of the enzymes that convert ALA to EPA. It's also important to supplement DHA. .

That seems pretty sensible to me; though if your BMR is 1500 then dropping down to 1200-1300 is probably okay (depending on your activity of course, but it sounds like you're aware of that). I'm hoping Soylent will help with weight loss for me as well…
