Vanclute, always the ultimate resource. One thing I will say is that I was surprised there wasn't more stratification with my Soylent until I made a batch without the blender. I'd estimate the separation was reduced by 80% or so when using the blender.…

For my DIY, I started off using a blender, but found it to be hard to clean. I had to take apart everything to clean the little bits under the blades, and I felt like I lost a lot of soylent to the large surface area of the blender's pitcher. My usual…

Sure @muldrowe, as long as you take a Vitamin K supplement, you should be fine using whatever oil (olive or otherwise) you want. Here's the supplement I use: MK-7 Vitamin K-2 - it's a capsule of powder, which is handy because you can empty it out into…

@axcho I would really like to substitute the soybean for olive oil, is there something I could add to the three weeks I already received from you to make it meet the carb/protein/fat ratio. If it's a bit over 2000 calories that's fine.
axcho - Jun 02, 2014 5:27pm
Hmmm, interesting. I've been wondering about replacements for GNC Mega Men Sport powder, so I think I'll look into this... Thanks.
axcho - Jun 02, 2014 5:12pm
Yes, good point @warnett, I should probably mention that in the future. Olive oil is not equivalent to soybean oil, because olive oil does not have as much Vitamin K (and the taste is more bitter). If you want to use olive oil, you'll need to ask me…

@muldrowe, for the Plus, 5 tablespoons is what it takes to get the right carb/protein/fat ratio for the recipe at 2000 calories a day. But if you don't need that many calories, you could drop it to as little as 3 tablespoons, but I wouldn't go any lower…

vanclute - Jun 02, 2014 1:14am
Aha.... gotcha. And like most things with nutrition I imagine everyone's needs are individual as well, so it's probably hard to pin down into a one-size-fits-all solution.
CarltonLemley - Jun 02, 2014 12:03am
Agreed. It's not at all a deal breaker, but it's probably good to know going in that satiation does not necessarily mean you're good to go. I suspect we'll find more and more idiosyncrasies of a more scientific approach to nutrition as we go.

It's important to know which Omega 3s we're getting. 2.5 grams is great, but of what? ALA is pretty much not what we need. EPA and DHA are harder to come by, ALA doesn't convert easily to EPA, and EPA doesn't convert easily to DHA. We need EPA to…

The amount amount is not as important as the amount of powder as that is where the carbs are. Ideally, a single serving of soylent would be consumed and tested.
timvermeulen - May 31, 2014 11:40pm
That obviously depends on the Soylent to water ratio, but 16 oz is most likely 1 serving, if not less.
sharkerty - May 31, 2014 11:38pm
Agreed. We also need to need to know how much is being drunk at that sitting? Is it just 1 serving?
timvermeulen - May 31, 2014 11:37pm
Yeah, one hour after the meal is probably way more interesting than two hours. I look forward to any results. Also, your blog is great, keep it up.
timvermeulen - May 31, 2014 11:35pm
But 176 mg/dl is extremely high, even right after a meal with many carbs. It should definitely not happen on a regular basis.
